I have a late 2020 first gen Macbook M1 running the latest OS [Big Sur 11.6]. Every time I launch a Microsoft RDP session it works for 30 seconds or so then freezes. My VPN session is still connected and functioning and all other Mac applications are otherwise functioning but RDP freezes preventing control within the application. If I close it and relaunch it, it then works again for 30 seconds or so before freezing again. This is happening constantly to several different machines I try to reach via RDP from my Macbook. I have the latest version of Microsoft Remote Desktop as provided in the app store. Any thoughts?

Hi,

May I know if he is using the latest version of RDC for mac os?

It is also suggested to try the beta version which has some more features in testing.

What about the Mac beta client?

Thanks,

Jenny

Is there any update to this issue for MacOS? [Constant crashing of the app during login and randomly while the RDP connection has been established]

I have several users who have been experiencing this for quite a while on different versions of MacOS. We've tried different versions of the App Store and BETA versions, including the most current version [10.4.0]

For all users, I have also attempted turning OFF hardware acceleration in the settings.

Are there any further workarounds to prevent this from happenning?

I am suffering a major problem since updating to macOS Monterey 12.0.1 on my Mac Mini M1.

Almost every time I connect, RDP brings the whole system down by crashing WindowServer process. This causes an immediate forceful logout which closes everything I have open [without saving of course] and losing work.

This happens about 80% of the time that I initiate an RDP connection.

Using the latest AppStore version 10.7.0 but I also tried the BETA version 10.7.1 and it did not fix the issue, so I removed it.

I uploaded a couple of the crash reports to Github in case someone wants to look at them.

Please Help - I use RDP constantly to administer systems and without it I am totally stuck.

Issue is that MS RDP crashes randomly, but it can be reproduced when trying use the iMac's built-in camera in applications such as Camera, zoom, Cisco jabber and MS Teams during the remote session.

Updates have been ran on remote machine and confirmed that the Remote Desktop camera driver on the windows remote machine is up to date.

Updated Zoom and all other applications on both host and remote machine.
