Why does Spotify stop playing when I open games?

Hello. I just got an iPhone 12 Pro (after being on Android for the longest time). I noticed that my Spotify stops playing when I use certain apps (ex. Facebook, some games, etc.). IOS version is updated to latest, app version is also updated, and Spotify has all permissions granted. I can't find any other discussion about the topic anywhere online which I found weird. Hoping I can get help here. It's really annoying that I can't continue listening to Spotify while browsing Facebook or playing some games. Please help.

This would be expected if the app had sound playing as it was launched. For example, most games will have sound playing as they launch.

If this is happening only with the Spotify app, please try closing the app with these steps: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

If the issue persists, try deleting and reinstalling Spotify: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or wont open
