UPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

UPSC Prelims Exam consists of two papers, General Studies [GS] and Civil Services Aptitude Test [CSAT]. Each Prelims paper is objective type, MCQ type questions

  • The Prelims paper will be provided in both English and Hindi
  • It is also important to note that the UPSC CSE Prelims exam has a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every incorrect answer
  • Both GS Paper 1 and Paper 2 are conducted in one day
  • To qualify for the Mains, all applicants must take both the General Studies and CSAT tests

Candidates who clear the UPSC prelims exam 2023 by securing the cutoff marks will fill in the DAF and appear for the Mains examination. It is a descriptive type of exam, and the marks secured in the mains exam and interview marks determine your selection and merit rank

The UPSC Mains Exam consists of two types. qualifying papers and merit

  • Papers A & B are of Qualifying in Nature [25%, i. e. , 75 marks required], whereas marks of Papers 1 to 7 of the Mains exam will be counted to determine the final order of merit

UPSC Prelims Admit Card 2023. The Commission will release the UPSC admit card after completing the application process. Candidates who successfully register for the Prelims exam will be able to download the hall ticket from the official website. It is important to carry your admit card to the exam centre to attempt UPSC 2023

UPSC Mains Admit Card 2023. The Commission will release the Mains admit card 2023 a few weeks before the exam, which can be downloaded from the official website. The UPSC Mains Exam 2023 is scheduled for 15th September 2023 onwards. Ensure you carry the admit card to the exam centre. Candidates who successfully qualify for the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2023 must fill out the DAF form and download the Mains e-admit Card from the official website

Candidates can download their UPSC 2023 Admit Card with the help of the following steps mentioned below

  • Step 1. Directly go to the official website of UPSC
  • Step 2. On the home page, click on the link to 'Download UPSC 2023 Admit Card'
  • Step 3. Read the instructions mentioned on the screen carefully and click on the ‘Yes’ button
