NBA All-Star Game 2024 tickets

WRTV's Brad Brown has a preview of the 2024 NBA All-Star game as Indianapolis is 500 days out from hosting.

INDIANAPOLIS — Tuesday marks 500 days until the NBA All-Star 2024 game starts in Indianapolis.

The 2021 game was canceled by the pandemic, which moved back Indy's successful bid.

The final phase of the interior upgrades at Gainbridge Fieldhouse is almost complete.

In addition to the game, there's also a new public art project, Hoosier Historia, which will invite people across Indiana to vote on their favorite high school basketball people, moments, places, and stories.

A diverse group of artists from across the state will design and paint their interpretations of the highest-ranked moments on 6-foot basketball sculptures that will be displayed downtown during NBA All-Star 2024 Weekend. Artists can sign up online to get more information.

"Why we do so much better than a lot of other cities is that it's more than just the event that comes. It's the legacy to our community, it's involving the entire community, it's creating things for everyone to be a part of," Mel Raines, board president of All-Star 2024, said. "Whether you're in the building when the actual All-Star game takes place, you have an opportunity to be a part of that weekend in some way."

The Pacers open the new NBA season at home on October 19.

On October 9, the Pacers are hosting their annual FanJam at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Beginning at noon, there will be a live scrimmage, appearances by the Pacemates, Boomer and the Power Pack and more.

Fans must reserve free tickets online. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the first 5,000 fans in attendance to FanJam will receive a free Pacers t-shirt, along with a food voucher for one hotdog, bag of chips and a 12 oz. Pepsi product.

The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will be an exhibition game played on February 18, 2024. It will be the 73rd edition of the NBA All-Star Game. It will be hosted by the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This is the second time that Indianapolis will host the All-Star Game; the last time the game was played in the city was in 1985 at the Hoosier Dome. The game will be televised by TNT.[1]

The announcement of the site selection was initially made on December 13, 2017 at a press conference held by the Indiana Pacers. In attendance at the announcement was NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Pacers owner Herb Simon, Governor Eric Holcomb, and Mayor Joe Hogsett. The team had submitted its bid for the game in grand fashion with then-team president and NBA legend Larry Bird delivering the bid in a specially livered Dallara IR-07.[2] On November 25, 2020, the NBA announced that the Pacers would host the All-Star Game in 2024 instead of 2021 due to NBA schedule changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and schedule conflicts with the 2021 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, which was held in several venues around Indianapolis and Central Indiana.[3][4]

Additional events including a celebrity game and practices open to the public are expected to be held at the adjacent Indiana Convention Center. The City of Indianapolis hopes to see an 8-figure [$10,000,000] economic impact surrounding the game.[2]
