For models with onsite Warranty, they do come at your place to repair it. For models with carry-in Warranty you have to send it to them.

Not seeing much activity on this thread for really old computers. Are people just not interested anymore or is there another thread/place? The win10 thread has a lot more activity.

Wow that is a very old machine. By the way which method did you follow to install win 11? Is it the reg hack method or another one.

I am testing installing Win 11 using dism command line. I did the test in Virtualbox using the eval ISO. I might test it later in a physical machine and see if it works. I used default Virtualbox settings for Windows 11 (64-bit). Now I changed the memory size to 512 MB and it sill works. However, it is useless as it takes for ever to boot, but at least I knew I can run the machine with less than 1GB Ram. I used compact mode switch for dism.

Just Rufus USB tool. It has a special option to make a patched W11 USB that bypasses all the checks. It was super easy. Easier than I had thought going into it. I guess its a relatively new method?

I think the 7 series is the cutoff ?
I`m not even considering installing 11 on the Z170, seems kinda silly to have back to back PC`s with the same OS on them.
This list shows the 79xxX as a cut, but who knows if that`s still correct.

The easiest method to clean install Windows 11 on unsupported machines is to create a hybrid USB Flash drive. This is a regular Windows 10 installation USB with the file \sources\install.wim replaced by the respective file from Windows 11 ISO. I use this to install Windows 11 on any computer with Legacy BIOS, without UEFI, without TPM. You create this once, no further hacking required, unless you want to upgrade from 10 which is different method. I have installed Windows 11 on Pentium D and Core 2 Duo computers. See my test laptop (1st system specs).
