This document is for HP computers with Windows 10. Windows Hello is a personal way to add extra security to sign in to your computer with just a look or a touch. Follow this document to set up a sign-in option using Windows Hello. If you have not yet set up a sign-in option, you must first add a password before you can use other sign-in options. To create a password, go to Setting up a password in this document. note: Setting up a passwordCreate or change your account password.
The password set up is complete. You can use your new password to unlock your computer. Setting up a fingerprint readerSet up a fingerprint reader to sign in to your computer. note:
The fingerprint reader is activated, and you can use your fingerprint to sign in to your device. Removing the fingerprint sign-in optionRemove this option in the Fingerprint section of Windows Hello.

Facial recognition is set up, and you can sign in by looking directly at your computer screen. Removing the facial recognition sign-in optionRemove the facial recognition sign-in option.
Solving problems with facial recognitionAfter setting up facial recognition, Windows Hello Face Recognition does not work, the infrared (IR) camera does not turn on, the feature hangs, or one of the following error messages display:
Setting up a PINCreate or change your personal identification number (PIN) to sign in to your computer.

Can I use my phone for Windows Hello?If you'd like to set up Windows Hello on your phone, swipe to the 'All apps' list from Start and then go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. If you don't see an option for Windows Hello, your phone doesn't support it. You may need to input your PIN to continue.
Which devices support Windows Hello?Microsoft's Surface Pro, Surface Book and most Windows 10 PCs equipped with fingerprint scanners or cameras that can capture two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy are compatible with Windows Hello.
How do I enable Windows Hello on unsupported devices?Ensure Windows Hello Face Is Installed
Go to Settings, click on Apps, and select Apps & features. Then go to Optional features. Locate the Windows Hello Face option. If this option is missing, click on Add a feature.
Why is Windows Hello face not available on my device?Right-click on Windows key and select Device Manager. Locate the Hello, webcam, and fingerprint drivers individually and right-click on each of them. Select Remove driver software and wait for the removal to be finished. Repeat the removal with all Windows Hello related drivers and then reboot your PC.
